THE BIG THAW

The earth 10,000 years ago was a cold planet of mostly Ice making the world’s oceans 400 feet lower than what they are today. The geography of the earth was very different than what it is today and humanity lived in a small concentrated area of the earth called the equatorial belt. The map below shows the earth as it looked 10,000 years ago. The land area between the two red lines represents the equatorial belt and the area in Green is a continent of land that existed 10,000 years ago. This continent was the most suitable land mass to support human civilization because it possessed tropical rain forest and an abundance of resources and wild life making it the Eden of the ancient world. This lost continent I call Oceania and it was here that the earth’s climate was conducive to support large agricultural based populations.  This is where the cradle of human civilization flourished and it is here that humanity had developed a highly sophisticated society perhaps comparable to our own.

p161.jpg (13504 bytes) The areas of the map in dark blue represent enormous glaciers that were miles in height and covered most of the worlds land masses. The areas in light yellow were tundra and supported very little vegetation and life. The earth was a very cold dry planet and these areas lacked warmth, rain fall and moisture. The brown color represents areas of the earth that were within the equatorial belt and supported plant and animal life. Much of these areas were desert and these large land masses were colder in temperature than Oceania that was surrounded by warmer ocean currents. Undoubtedly humans lived in these areas but most of these areas were not conducive to support large populations that could develop agriculture and civilizations.

About 9,000 years ago an unknown geological or cosmic event triggered a sudden spectacular thawing of the earth. The enormous Glaciers that covered most of the earth quickly melted filling the Oceans with water and immediately causing marine transgression in the low-lying coastal areas where much of human population existed. Within a short span of time the melting   waters from the Glaciers rapidly elevated the sea levels and submerged enormous land masses reshaping the geography and the world of humanity. The rapid thawing of the earth and the receding Ice Age were cataclysmic and occurred in a very short span of time. Massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions caused from the redistribution of weight from ice forming to water moved the earth’s tectonic plates and its surface. Tidal waves of massive proportions swept the shore lines of ancient earth and consumed them beneath the rapidly rising Oceans. Entire continents of land submerged beneath the rising oceans and gigantic super hurricane force storms lasting for decades swept the planets surface.   The civilizations that flourished in the habitable areas of the earth's equatorial belt vanished beneath hundreds of feet of water and human civilization was thrown into oblivion.

The map to your right is a close up of what the continent of Oceania looked like before the Big Thaw. It is estimated that this land mass that united what is today Western Indonesia and the Philippines with mainland SE Asia and China was over 1.7 million square kilometers in size. This enormous land mass had a very large inland fresh water sea that could have supported a human population of millions. Oceania was a continent that existed for well over 30,000 years. This fact is substantiated by the changes in oxygen isotope ratios scientist have found in the Greenland ice cap and the Antarctica ice cap, both indicating that sea levels remained very low during that time interval (see chart below) in the earth’s history. The light blue lines of the map show today’s shore lines after the sea level rose by 400 feet. The Big Thaw and the rapidly rising sea levels reduced Oceania from 1.7 million square kilometers to less than 1 million square kilometers and increased coastlines more than threefold. The interior of Oceania and the coastal areas where the heaviest concentrations of human population were located simply vanished beneath the sea leaving not a trace of any known civilization.

There are many stories of a lost Continent and a lost civilization that can be found in the folk lore and writings of the ancient people. Plato wrote in his dialogues, Timaeus and Critias the story of Atlantis a lost civilization that sank beneath the Oceans. Humanities most ancient stories tell of a great flood that swept the world thousands of years ago. Perhaps one of the more known and famous stories of a great flood is found in the Bible with the story of Noah’s Arch. Modern science has proven through the analysis of the earths ice caps that the earth under went a great flood of cataclysmic proportions about 9,000 years ago.

The current archaeological theories state that before 9,000 years ago there were no early human civilizations that developed agriculture or built great empires. Modern archeology further states that during the Paleolithic age humans were hunters and gathers that lived at a subsistence level comparable to the Neanderthal man. I am about to prove this hypothesis wrong by revealing to you an artifact that may well be called The Missing Link.
