Ancient jades are a classification of gemstone artifacts that must be evaluated by experts who use Scientific,
Historic and Mineralogical methods. Currently there are no scientifically proven
methods to date ancient jades with precise accuracy, so Jade experts must analyze jade
gemstone
material, natural gemstone erosion, material wear /leaching, carving methods, tool marks and artistic styles
to determine age and authenticity.
Over the past 36 years
we have developed a four point system
that are the criteria for the issuance of Certifications of Authenticity….
-
-
1.
Examination of
gemstone: Hardness test, Microscope test, Density test (if
needed).
Calcification test, and Patina test.
-
-
2.
Provenance of gemstone:
Ascertaining the type of Jade and Origin of source of gemstone.
-
-
3.
Examination of
workmanship: Carving technique, Depth of incised and relief lines, and Techniques
employed in use of abrasives and tools employed.
-
-
4.
Examination of
art style: Design and style of Motifs, Shape/Form, and Comparison to contemporary
specimens.
-

TESTING CRITERIA
AUTHENTICITY OF
ANCIENT ARTIFACTS
Each
classification of artifacts has their own criteria for testing for authenticity. We have developed
testing criteria for
specialized

Authenticity that is based upon our best knowledge and these criteria
.
